Ahmadinejad:
We won't Accept Conditions
Iranian President Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad told state TV on Monday that he won't accept any conditions
on his country's disputed nuclear program during talks with EU
officials this weekend. Major world powers have offered Iran a package
of incentives in exchange for a halt to Iran's uranium enrichment - a
process that can be used to generate electricity, or make a nuclear
weapon.
Ahmadinejad told state television Monday that he rejected that
condition. He said Saturday's talks will focus on 'common' points
instead.
Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili, and EU foreign policy
chief Javier Solana are scheduled to meet in Geneva on July 19.
Ahmadinejad also said that he'll attend the next UN General Assembly meeting expected to be held in New York in September.
Ahmadinejad has attended every annual UN General Assembly meeting since he was elected in 2005.
He told state TV on Monday that he will attend September's meeting in
order to defend Iran's rights and propose changes to what he called the
"unjust" Western system of administering international organizations.
