National bestselling author of Letters to Young Black Women,
Daniel Whyte III, with his wife, Meriqua, in their second book to young
black women titled, 7
Things Young Black Women do to Mess up Their Lives,
outline the seven most common mistakes young black women are making
today that is causing them to go down the wrong path for their lives.
“The truth of the matter is,” Whyte says in the
introduction, “many young black women have never been taught
and trained in the right way. Many have never been taught how to carry
themselves like ladies—with dignity, class and grace. Many
have never been taught how to be tough while at the same time remain
humble. Many have never been taught how to be strong-minded and not
silly-minded, so they fall a part at the slightest misfortune that
comes across their path.”
The seven things that young black women are doing that are causing them to mess up their lives include, but are not limited to:
1. Not taking God, the Bible and the Church Seriously
2. Following the Crowd and Worldly Vanities
3. Not Taking Education Seriously
4. Having Sex of Any Kind Before Marriage
5. Not Appreciating Your Parents and Family
6. Leaving Home too Soon
7. Not Having Clear Direction in Life
Whyte not only delineates the seven things he believes young black
women are doing to mess up their lives, but he offers the solutions and
answers that will help any young black woman avoid making these
devastating mistakes and encourages them to go on with their lives. If
perchance, as a young black woman you may have made any of these seven
mistakes, Whyte assures you that, you can still go on to live a
successful and productive life.
