Familiar Territory, by Dr. Corey L. Brown

"For we are not unaware of his schemes"
(2 Corinthians 2:11).
In our text for today, Paul is writing to the church at Corinth, because the enemy had created division within the body. Evidently, someone had committed a serious offense within the church, which caused him or her to be expelled from the fellowship.
This created division within the body because some people wanted the offender restored to the fellowship while others didn't. Paul encourages the fellowship to not be tricked by the enemy because "we are not unaware of his schemes." This was key for me, because it lets me know that the enemy had done some things in the past that the church should have learned from to help them discern the enemy's ways.
I don't know if you are aware of this, but sometimes the enemy will use the same things he used on yesterday to cause confusion in your life today. That's why it's so important for you to learn from what you went through in the past so you can discern the attack from the enemy. You should know the "ways" of the enemy from what you have experienced thus far in your life. I would dare to say that the enemy is attacking you in some of the same areas he attacked you in before. He is still having a field day by using some of the same things and some of the same people that he used on yesterday. You've got to discern his schemes to ensure that he doesn't steal your joy, peace, and happiness. You've got to be mindful so that he doesn't cause you to lose your mind. You've got to be aware so that you can make certain that he doesn't destroy relationships with people who God has placed in your life.
Where has the enemy been attacking you? Your finances, marriage, job...? Who has the enemy been using? Your coworker, relatives, so-called friends...? What has the enemy been using? Your failures, rejections, upbringing...?
Don't allow the enemy to have access and dominion in your life. Take authority and let him know that you're not falling for his "ways" any longer. Same devil, same tricks!
