It's All Good, by Dr. Corey L. Brown

"I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances" (Philippians 4:11).
If you're trying to obtain peace in your current situation, our text for today should serve as a tremendous help. We discover that Paul is writing to the church at Philippi to express his thanks for the gifts they sent to him. However, in spite of their generosity, he takes time to inform them that although he appreciates their gifts, he's not ultimately dependent upon them. He can make this declaration because he understands that his ultimate dependence is on God through Jesus Christ.
Presently, Paul is imprisoned in Rome because of his exaltation of the gospel. It's at this particular point in his life where he professes that he's discovered the secret of being content in any situation. He's been on the mountaintop, and he's been in the valley. He's had everything at his fingertips, and he's experienced times of being without. Yet, in those times of being without, he had everything that he needed to survive.
Although things may not be, the way you would like them to be you've got to find peace in the fact that you have everything that you need to survive. You may not live where you want to live, but you've got a place to lay your head. You may not make what you desire to make, but you've got enough to obtain what's necessary in your life. You may not be driving your dream car, but at least you've got a means of transportation. Your job may not appeal to you, but it's what you need in order to pay the bills.
Sometimes you've got to consider the fact that you could be worse off than you are right now. Sometimes you've got to look back at where you were on yesterday to appreciate where you are today. As a matter of fact, you've got to take a look around and recognize that you have it better than some folk around you. This kind of reflection will help you discover peace and contentment in your present situation.
You may not have everything you want, but you've got everything you need because God promised to supply them "according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."
He's got the peace that you need until you get your next promotion. He's got the joy that you need until you receive your next job. He's got the love that you need until He blesses you with the person He has for you. Hook up with the "anointed one" because He's got what you need in order to survive.
