Win Souls Today

And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of the father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you."
--Matthew 21:28-31
In
the above passage, the man had two sons, and he told both sons to go
work in the vineyard. Of course, one said he wouldn't, and he did; and
one said he would, and he didn't. In this article, I want to share with
you these five thoughts:
- Those of us who are saved are God's children.
- The harvest is plenteous.
- We are all commanded to go work in His vineyard.
- Everyday is today.
- No work - no reward!
First
of all, we are God's children. If there was a time in your life, when
you realized that you were a lost sinner and unable to save yourself
through good works, church membership, or anything else, and then you
trusted Jesus Christ as your only hope of Heaven, then you are a child
of God.
Second,
the harvest is plenteous. People are looking for salvation. During
testimony time in our church (Harvest Baptist Church, Orlando,
Florida), we hear over and over again these words: "They were ready and waiting to be saved."
Everyday precious souls are plunging into Hell while many of us sit
home and watch television. We need to wake up and see men as the Lord
Jesus Christ did while He walked upon this earth. He was moved with
compassion. Lost people are waiting on a soul-winner to share the
GOSPEL.
Third,
we are commanded to go work in His vineyard. In Mark sixteen, Jesus was
talking to a group of back-slidden, cold-hearted disciples and He told
them to go soul-winning. Many times when people do not participate in
the work of the church, they become critical of those who are involved
in the work of the church. Until these critical folk get involved in
the work of soul-winning, they will never live in victory. We are
commanded to work. It is not an opinion or a suggestion.
Fourth, everyday is today. Our heavenly Father wants us to do His will today. Souls are dying today. Therefore we must work TODAY.
Fifth,
NO WORK - NO REWARD! The Bible says, happy is the man that heareth my
word and doeth it! We are constantly faced with opportunities to be
slothful. Remember, rewards only come after labor and work.
Allow
me to share with you a church testimony to illustrate the value of
everyday soul-winning. At the beginning of the year, we had a revival
meeting with Dr. Bob Gray and Dan Hawtree. During this meeting, Dr.
Gray shared with us "THE TEN ESSENTIALS OF SOUL-WINNING."
They are as follows: (1) Everyone must go. (2) Everyone must go,
believing. (3) Everyone must stop the first person he or she sees. (4)
Everyone must look for people under conviction. (5) Everyone should
lead someone to Christ before they go in. (6) Everyone should pick up
their converts for church. (7) The church needs to baptize every week.
(8) Everyone should commit what he or she knows to faithful people. (9)
Everyone should take his or her new converts soul-winning. (10)
Soul-winning attendance has to be built up.
Through
our following those ten points the Lord has allowed us to see 1600
souls come to Christ within a five months period (January 1, 1989
through May 1989). You and your church can do it.
