Let God Make You Beautiful from the Inside Out

Dear Daughters & YBW:
At the writing of this note, I am alone in my recliner thinking of how God has blessed me with so many beautiful and healthy children. I really thank the Lord for each one of you, and for the natural beauty that He has given to each of you.
Even though I think that your mother is a beautiful woman, I have had to talk with her from time to time about things that make her ugly. These things make all people ugly, no matter how pretty they are. What are some of the things that make us ugly?
1. Lying and Dishonesty. At the top of the list is lying. Sweethearts, nothing will make you uglier in the sight of people than telling lies and being dishonest. Tell the truth no matter how much it might hurt. The Bible says in Proverbs 12:19: "The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment." Yes, the old adage is true: "HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY."
2. A Bad Spirit and Attitude. Contrary to what so many people believe, I believe that we can control our attitudes and our spirits. The Bible states in Proverbs 25:28 that: "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls."
In other words, I believe that by a simple decision, we can control our attitudes and our spirits, no matter what the circumstances, and no matter how we feel physically or emotionally. Your moods and your feelings should not rule how you respond to your family, friends, and others. Have a sweet, beautiful spirit, and people will love to be around you.
3. An Uncontrollable Tongue. Now, my dad, Daniel Whyte, Jr., was the most loving man that I have ever met, but I can still hear him, hollering from the back room, from time to time, to my mother when they were fussing back and forth about something, "Shirley, your mouth is going to get your behind in trouble." Oh! How many people have allowed their uncontrollable tongues to get them in trouble. The Bible speaks about this in the book of James:
"And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell...But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison."
--James 3: 5 & 8
Oh! How terrible is a lying tongue. Oh! How terrible is a bad attitude and spirit. Oh! How terrible is an uncontrollable tongue.
Sweethearts, choose to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth at all times. Determine to have a cheerful and joyful spirit at all times and in all circumstances. And choose by the grace of God to control your tongue in every situation. If you do so, you will be
beautiful from the inside out.
