Will President Obama's "Success" Lead to One Term?

You may not be a big fan of President Obama's political agenda but there is no denying that he is getting things done.
From the stimulus and bailouts to save the economy (as he sees it), to the tough fight on healthcare reform and now the new financial reform bill this President promised he would come to Washington and do big things and there is no denying that he has been successful on that promise.

Now he's trying to tackle the huge issues of immigration and climate change too.  The truth is that he's not even been in office two years and he and his administration have already done big things. But look, here's the deal. For all the president's success legislatively that does not mean it will translate into a second term.

President Obama promised change and he delivered. The problem for him politically is that the country isn't necessarily sold on all of this. The polling bears that out. Why do you think there could be a political tsunami this November in the midterm elections?

All of this has been a lot of big government change pretty quickly. That's a lot to swallow for a center-right nation.  It's up to the President and his allies to sell this to the American people and have them buy in to a second term. So far the jury is out on whether the American people want more of this. Like it or, fair or unfair this president has been labeled as a big government liberal by his critics and unfortunately for him that label is sticking with key independent voters. That's a major problem. So you would think that with all these major legislative accomplishments that would bode well for his political future. But it may have all been an over reach from the start which could leave President Obama without the one victory he needs to keep his agenda going: a victory in November 2012.
