God never forgets His promises to us. In turn, He intends for His children never to forget His faithfulness, never to doubt that He will fulfill the promises He has made in His Word.
I've made memories with my family, of course, that will be engraved on my mind forever. My relationship with God, however, preceded my present family. My longest and most effective history with anyone has been with God Himself. I received Christ as my Saviour in childhood and have loved Him longer, known Him better, and experienced life with Him more intimately than anyone else.
You don't have to know God long to make memories with Him. The more you look back, the more you can see that He was always at work, long before you accepted His Son as your Saviour. Actively remembering His faithfulness yesterday will greatly increase your willingness to trust Him today.
In the future, when your children ask you, "What do these stones mean?" tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.
- Joshua 4:6-7
