"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12).
The enemy is having a field day with some of us because we're fighting the wrong battle. As believers, we have to recognize the reality of the spirit world. Often times, we allow the enemy to control our disposition because we put our focus on people instead of the evil spirit within them.

Sometimes you hear someone say, "I don't like him" or "I don't like her." For the most part, their attention is on the person rather than on the spirit that controls the person. Ultimately, it's the spirit within an individual that causes them to do or say some things that we don't like.

It's not that you don't like your manager or your co-worker- you just don't like the evil spirit within them. It's not that you're having problems with your spouse or children-you've got issues with the demonic spirit within them.

When you understand the true problem, you won't let it upset you. When you recognize the real source of the drama, you won't let it frustrate you. Sometimes we let the enemy steal our joy, peace, and mind because we focus on addressing the person instead of the evil spirit.

Paul encourages us to use the weapons of our warfare. He admonishes us to put on truth and righteousness. He advises us to embrace the gospel of peace and he informs us to obtain the shield of faith. He also recommends that we secure salvation along with internalizing the word of God. He recognizes that believers are in spiritual warfare and they need the right weapons to come out victorious.

That's why you can't respond to the enemy in the same way he attacked you. You've got to put on the armour God has given you in order to win the battle.
