In an American Indian story, an aged man explained to a young man that when one wants to be righteous, there is both a good dog and an evil dog inside of him. He explained that they are both fighting inside him for control of his mind. "Which dog, then, is winning?" he was asked. He replied, "The one I feed the most."
There is a war between good and evil, obedience and sin, raging within each of us. If the force of righteousness--that which delights in God's law--is going to win, we must feed our minds on things that are true, honest, and pure. We must feed our minds on the Word of God, listen to good sermons, and read Christian books to become filled with that which nurtures our souls.
Father, help us to feed our minds on those things that are good and
positive, and help us to grow in Your ways. In Jesus' name we pray,
