The unexpected death of well known entertainer, Whitney Houston, reminded us all that life is but a vapor--a brief stint of time that cannot compare to eternity. My prayers were extended to her family in their time of grief. She was an incredible talent whose gifts were definitely a result of the rich musical heritage in the family from which she hailed.
We cannot take life for granted, but rather, we must treasure every moment and relationship by adding value with our words and deeds. All we have is today, and to make the most of it requires living with intentionality (knowing our God-ordained purpose and pursuing it unapologetically), authenticity (being genuinely ourselves), specificity (being strategic about our life's choices and mission), and simplicity (knowing who and what is truly important in our lives and prioritizing accordingly).
May we all remember how truly precious life is, and that we must be good stewards of our spirit, mind, and body, as well as our relationships.
Prayer to Ignite Action:
Heavenly Father, today I thank You for the ability to see and hear You in my daily activities so that my life will be a representation of Your light shining through me into the darkest of places around me. I will not be consumed by dark thoughts, choices or actions, but I choose to overcome them with Your power and presence living in me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
