I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

When a friend and I would talk on the phone, he would always end the call with "Later". It didn't bother me at first but then I began to realize that sometimes in life later can be too late and it began to annoy me. Why did it trouble me so much? Because later to me is just another word for procrastination or delaying doing something. There are so many negative consequences that can take place by procrastinating.
Imagine if you will, your house is on fire; a phone call is made to the fire department. The response one gets is "We will get to you but we have 3 or 4 fires ahead of yours that we have to attend to before coming to you". Your house will have burned to the ground.
Or imagine you've had a heart attack. Your call to 911 ends with--"Okay Ms. So and So, we will get to you but all of our ERT's are attending to others now. We'll see you in a few hours". Chances are you've expired by the time they get there.
I've had people tell me (and I've been guilty as well) that "something" told them to call this person or that one or to go visit someone yet they ignored that "something" or yet to even do something for someone or even themselves but they decided they would do it when--later. The end result was they later found out the person was going through a terrible time and either needed someone to talk to for encouragement, had a need that the individual given the assignment could fulfill or possibly there was a sickness that resulted in death. Later, in these cases, was often too late.
Learn to heed that "something" or inner voice that tells you the time to do something is now. I choose to believe that it is God speaking to us. But people are more comfortable with saying "something" as opposed to "God" or the Holy Spirit said or led. Work the works of him that sent you while it is day. Don't wait until later as later often is just too late.
There are too many negative consequences that can and often do result from procrastinating but the rewards of doing it now can be the difference between life and death, success and failure, and numerous positive things. The consequences can be disastrous and devastating. Turn "later" into "now".
