Flowing from my heart is gratefulness. Grateful for the many wonderful things that God has done in my life. Grateful for the opportunity to yet be a blessing to someone else this day. Grateful for family, friends, co-workers, colleagues, life, love, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Grateful for all of God's goodness and His mercies which are new each and every day.
There's a song that says, "Thank you Lord for all you've done for me." I love it as it causes me to redirect my focus from the cares of the world to the goodness of God. You see, it could have been me out doors with no food or no clothes. And it could as well have been you too.
Christmas is a joyous time of the year. The decorations, the carols, visiting with family and friends, the excitement in the air, the worship services, the generosity of the people, all add up to it being the most wonderful time of the year. It's magical!
The downside is it can be the most devastating time as well. As we lose loved ones; as more and more people become unemployed; as people lose their homes; as there are more people that contemplate and commit suicide at this time of the year--yes it can be very devastating.
I encourage you to focus each and every day on the goodness of God; redirect your focus from all of the cares of the world and take it one day at a time. That, my friend, sometimes is no easy task. But we can make a conscious decision on a daily basis to give thanks for what we do have. The bible tells us in everything to give thanks because this is the will of God. Let's practice it.
Give the gifts to others that you desire this year--the gift of love, the gift of time, the gift of patience, the gift of forgiveness, the gift of letting go. As you take the focus completely off of you and your issues and direct them to the goodness of God, no matter what is going on in your life, you too can say--it's the most wonderful time of the year! Rejoice because you are still here. This is the day the Lord has made--REJOICE! Live in an attitude of gratitude.
