(VIDEO) Obama Does Not Keep His Word, Opts out of Public Campaign Financing
Barack Obama is abandoning
public financing for his presidential campaign, reversing his earlier
stance in bold certainty he can raise millions more on his own as the
first major-party candidate to bypass a system that was hurried into
place after the Watergate scandal. The Democrat has shattered
fundraising records during the primary season, and he promptly showed
off his financial muscle Thursday with his first commercial of the
general election campaign. The ad, a 60-second biographical spot, will
begin airing Friday in 18 states, including historically Republican
strongholds.

Analysis: Obama Chose Winning over his Word
Barack Obama chose winning over
his word. The Democrat once made a con-ditional agreement to accept
taxpayer money from the public financing system, and accompanying
spending limits, if his Republican opponent did, too. No more. The
chance to financially swamp John McCain - and maneuver for an enormous
general election advantage - proved too great an allure.

McCain Reports May Finances, Sets Personal Record
Republican Sen. John McCain started
June with more than $31 million in the bank after having the best fundraising
month of his presidential campaign, according to documents filed Thursday with
the Federal Election Commission. McCain reported raising $21 million in May,
his biggest monthly haul yet. He spent $11.6 million during a month and
reported nearly $1.3 million in debt. McCain clinched the GOP nomination in
early March and has been focused on raising money for the general election.

Huckabee Not Seeking Vice-President Job
Former
U.S. presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee said Wednesday he was not actively
seeking to become John McCain's running mate in the November general election,
but that if chosen he could strengthen McCain's base in the south. "I'm
moving on with my life," the Republican former Arkansas governor said.
"I'm not waiting on the phone."

(VIDEO) Teen Girls Made Pact to get Pregnant on Purpose
A pact made by a group of teens to
get pregnant and raise their babies together is at least partly behind a sudden
spike in pregnancies at Gloucester High School, school officials said. Principal
Joseph Sullivan told Time magazine in a story published Wednesday that the
girls confessed to making the pact after the school began investigating a rise
in pregnancies that has left 17 girls at the school carrying a child. Normally,
there are about four pregnancies a year at the school.

Teenage Author Encourages her Peers in her Book, The Girl God Wants: Sister-to-Sister Talk about Loving God, Living a Great Life, and Enjoying It
Society throws a lot of
ungodly stuff at young ladies today and it is hard to find things that
can empower them to greatness. In The Girl God Wants,
author, Daniella Whyte, (age 14 when she commenced the writing of this
book), helps young ladies with some of the issues that they face today.
Oftentimes, it is easier for teenagers to relate to each other and they
are sometimes more eager to listen to the advice of their peers, rather
than their parents, pastors, and teachers.

On "Being Saved"
in Black America
While growing up in a very
religious and church-going family, I often heard the phrase "Being
Saved." Now to me and my peers, "Being Saved" was a rather spooky and
mystical thing, and only the real holy folk could be such —
whatever it was.

Pastor
of the Week:
Dr. Stan B. Bennett, Pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Richmond, VA
Dr.
Stanley (Stan) Bennett was born in Fairfield, Alabama on August 12,
1950. On November 18, 1972, Dr. Stan B. Bennett married Deborah E.
Patterson. They are blessed with one daughter, Pamela McCoy;
and,
two sons: Mathew and Jonathan. Dr. and Mrs. Bennett are
privileged to be the grandparents of several grandchildren. On July 29,
1979, after returning home from work as an assistant business manager,
God began to burden this young black man's heart to receive Christ as
Savior. After receiving Jesus Christ as Savior, God shortly
thereafter led he and his family to an Independent Fundamental Baptist
Church. Dr. Stanley Bennett was not called to build a "Black Church,"
but rather a church for all people! It is his belief that one
day
black, white, Hispanic and Asian will live together in
heaven.
Because of this, it ought to be able to work on earth, in the house of
God! To God be the glory, great things He has done! "...and
yet
there is room."
