Why This Fifty-Five Year Old White Lifelong Republican Wants Obama To Win by Frank Schaeffer (Frank
Schaeffer is the son of the famous philosopher and minister, Francis
Schaeffer, who is credited with being one of the key founders of
the religious right.)
This
is a great day for those of us who have been fighting for Senator
Obama! I'm a good example of why he'll win in November. I'm the least
typical Obama supporter. And there are many more like me. I cut my
political teeth in the seventies through the early eighties as an
organizer in the antiabortion religious right. I'm a fifty-five year
old white man who has been a conservative most of my life. I've been a
Republican activist who campaigned for McCain in 2000. I'm a big fan of
the military. My son served in the Marines. If Obama can reach me he
can reach anyone.

thing. Our country's extraordinary. We've overcome a lot," she said.
"And I'm very gratified, but not surprised."

Is Barack Obama Really a Christian or an Enemy of God? by Bill Keller
"Anyone
who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." James
4:4. Senator Obama has been very up front during the campaign about his
Christian faith. Only God can judge his heart if indeed he has accepted
Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, but based on his public
statements about his faith as well as his actions, it is critical to
explore what he believes and see if this man really is a Christian as
he claims. What does Senator Obama believe regarding the basic tenets
of the Christian faith? What does he believe about salvation?

Number of Blacks Converting to Mormonism Rises; They are Attracted by the Church's Commitment to Diversity
Angela Carson used to jump up and
frequently yell "Hallelujah!" in church. Now, she sits in the middle
pew and sings quietly, with a softer, gentler demeanor. Carson, a
28-year-old black woman, left her Baptist church in New York last year
feeling uninspired and removed from the congregation. She visited many
traditional black churches, but she found her new home with the Harlem
branch of the Mormon church.

(VIDEO) Clinton Suspends Campaign, Endorses Obama
Hillary
Rodham Clinton suspended her pioneering campaign for the presidency on

strength" to put Barack Obama in the White House. "I endorse him and
throw my full support behind him," said the former first lady,
delivering the strong affirmation that her one-time rival and other
Democratic leaders hoped to hear after a bruising campaign.

Sex for Sale: On the Streets of Bangkok by Missionary Stacy Utrecht (Disturbing Photos)
80 girls, 2 stages....XXX
Shows....Dancing girls...."Come here, beautiful women!"..."Hello,
Hello, Come here for lady boys!" More than just the neon signs shout
at me as I walk past. It is my first night to walk the open bars and I
am overwhelmed by a sense of darkness. With each level I climb, I feel
more and more heaviness laying on my chest. At points, it is even hard
for me to physically breathe.

Gerard
Henry, who has hosted Black Entertainment Television's (BET) weekly

said. "However, based on the creative direction they wanted to take the
show, it was inevitable." Henry approached BET with the "Lift
Every Voice" concept nine years ago. It was immediately embraced by BET
executives in conjunction with the launch of BET's 24-hour Gospel
Channel at the time.

Bestselling Author and Speaker, Michelle McKinney Hammond, Releases Her Second Spellbinding Novel, Playing God
Many
of us as Christians sometimes get tired of waiting on God and we begin
to take matters into our own hands. We seem to have forgotten this
verse of the old spiritual: He’s an on-time God, Yes, He is / He may
not come when we want Him to / But He’ll be there right on time. / He’s
an on-time God, Yes He is. Best selling author and speaker, Michelle
McKinney Hammond, shows us the detrimental effects of playing God in
her latest novel, Playing God.

Religious Left Gaining Prominence in U.S. Politics
For
decades, when Americans talked about faith and politics the phrase
“religious right” came to mind. But the country’s
political landscape is changing and now the “religious
left” is re-emerging to play a prominent role in U.S. politics,
observed one of the country’s foremost experts on faith and
politics. John Green, senior fellow in Religion and American Politics
at the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life, contends the religious
right no longer plays the “dominant role” in
America’s faith-based politics in a Pew Forum interview posted on
Thursday.

Stop Making 'Sex Seekers' Out of Youth
The
Centers for Disease Control has released the 2007 Youth Risk Behavior
Surveillance Report (YRBS). This report shows the numbers of youth risk
behaviors, including sexual risk behaviors, which shows a slight
increase in the number of sexually active teens. "While opponents to
sexual integrity education blame abstinence programs for these numbers,
I think it's high time they took a look in the mirror," said Leslee
Unruh.

Blacks More Likely to Lose Leg to Diabetes
Blacks
undergo leg amputations as a complication of diabetes at a far higher
rate than whites, according to a study out today that also found blacks
lag behind whites in breast cancer screening and diabetic tests. "There
are remarkable disparities between blacks and whites and between
communities," says Dartmouth Medical School professor and study lead
author Elliott Fisher, who says health systems, economics, lifestyle,
education and community resources all play a role in the differences.

On "Being Saved"

While growing up in a very
religious and church-going family, I often heard the phrase "Being
Saved." Now to me and my peers, "Being Saved" was a rather spooky and
mystical thing, and only the real holy folk could be such —
whatever it was.

Inspirations
The
Word of God
for this Week
"Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in
the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in
vain in the Lord."
--1 Corinthians 15:58
The
Encouraging Word for this Week
"If you have a
doubtful issue in your life, something with a question mark after it,
put it to this fourfold test – The Test of Expediency (I
Corinthians 6:12): It may even be good, but is it good for me to do?
The Test of Enslavement (I Corinthians 6:12 again): Does it make me its
slave? The Test of Edification (I Corinthians 10:23): Does it build me
up? The Test of Example (I Corinthians 8)” Does it offend the
weaker brother? If your problem clears these four hurdles, it should no
longer be a problem." --Vance Havner
The
Prayer Motivator for this Week
MOTIVATING
VERSE: "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know
not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." --Romans
8:26
PRAYER QUOTE: "Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden"
--Corrie ten Boom
The
Soul-Winning Motivator for this Week
"But ye shall
receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall
be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in
Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." --Acts 1:8
SOUL-WINNING
QUOTE: “To try to win a soul for Christ by keeping that soul in
ignorance of any truth, is contrary to the mind of the Spirit; and to
endeavour to save men by mere claptrap, or excitement, or oratorical
display, is as foolish as to hope to hold an angel with bird-lime, or
lure a star with music. The best attraction is the gospel in its
purity. The weapon with which the Lord conquers men is the truth as it
is in Jesus. The gospel will be found equal to every emergency; an
arrow which can pierce the hardest heart, a balm which will heal the
deadliest wound. Preach it, and preach nothing else.”
--C.H. Spurgeon
