(VIDEO) Author of 'Obama Can't
Win' Book Doesn't Believe Himself
Shelby
Steele, conservative author
and research fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, has a
book out entitled, A Bound Man: Why We Are Excited About Obama and Why
He Can't Win. The book hit the shelves in December of last year, and
isn't available in paperback yet, but there appears to be need for a
revision: as it turns out, Steele isn't nearly as certain on that whole
"Obama Can't Win" premise anymore. Steele admitted as much on a recent
edition of Fox News' Hannity's America:

Conservative Bush Supporter, Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell
Disagrees with Dr. Dobson; Launches Website: JamesDobsonDoesntSpeakforMe.com
Barack
Obama said Tuesday
that evangelical leader James Dobson was "making stuff up" when he
accused the presumed Democratic presidential nominee of distorting the
Bible. On Tuesday, Dobson used his Focus on the Family radio program to
highlight excerpts of a speech Obama gave in June 2006 to the liberal
Christian group Call to Renewal. Speaking to reporters on his campaign
plane before landing in Los Angeles, Obama said the speech made the
argument that people of faith, like himself, "try to translate some of
our concerns in a universal language so that we can have an open and
vigorous debate rather than having religion divide us." Obama added, "I
think you'll see that he was just making stuff up, maybe for his own
purposes."

Pardon Me if I don't Throw Rice,
by Joseph C. Phillips
This
past Monday at 5:01 p.m., homosexual marriage became legal in
California. Pardon me if I don’t throw rice. Last
month, the
California Supreme Court rode rough shod over the will of California
voters, the California legislature, which failed in its attempt to
legalize homosexual marriage, the clear will of the rest of the country
(45 states have outlawed gay marriage), as well as cultural and moral
traditions dating back to the beginning of time.

Court Rules Child Rapist Cannot
be Executed
The U.S. Supreme Court
ruled 5-4 Wednesday
that child rapists cannot be executed, concluding that capital
punishment for crimes against individuals can be applied only to
murderers. The ruling stemmed from the case of Patrick
Kennedy,
who appealed the 2003 death sentence he received in Louisiana after
being convicted of raping his 8-year-old stepdaughter. Justice Anthony
Kennedy wrote in the majority opinion that execution in this case would
violate the Eighth Amendment's prohibition against cruel and unusual
punishment, citing "evolving standards of decency" in the United
States.

The New
Children’s Book by Super Bowl Winning Coach, Tony Dungy,
titled, You Can Do It! Teaches
Children that They Can Accomplish Anything They Set Their Minds To (In
Stores Nationwide, July 8, 2008)
It
can be frustrating when it seems everyone is doing their
life’s calling
and is happy doing it, but you are still searching to fulfill and
pursue your life’s passion. Such was the case with third
grader,
Linden, little brother to Tony Dungy, and the youngest in the family.
It seemed everyone in the family had found their special talent all
except Linden. Because of this, he lacked that self-motivation to do
anything. But, with encouragement from his parents, a special push from
big brother, Tony, and inspiration from God, Linden begins to soar as
he learns that if he dreams big and has faith in God and in himself, he
can accomplish anything he sets his mind to.

Pacman Praying for Don Imus
At least
Don Imus can take comfort
in knowing that he has Adam (Don't Call Me Pacman -- Or Else) Jones'
spiritual support. Imus, the syndicated radio host who was fired for
making racially and sexually insensitive remarks about the Rutgers
women's basketball team last year, set off another firestorm Monday by
asking "What color is he?" after hearing Jones' lengthy rap sheet. Told
that the Cowboys cornerback is African American, Imus said: "Well,
there you go. Now we know."

"We've Got to Give Americans
Hope" -- Interview with John McCain
Nationally
syndicated host
and journalist Hugh Hewitt interviewed John McCain on June 24 as the
presumptive nominee for the Republican Party travelled through southern
California. Hugh Hewitt: Senator McCain, welcome to Orange
County, California…. John McCain: Thank you,
Hugh…. These
are interesting times. Hewitt: Interesting times. In fact, Joe Klein of
Time Magazine wrote today, senator, “I happily acknowledge
that I
was wrong about the surge.” USA Today remarks on the string
of
successes in Basra, Mosul, Sadr City and Amara. And it seems as though
you’ve been vindicated in this support, senator. Do you
expect to
hear that from your opponent?

How Can a Fellow Black Republican
Oppose Obama, by Larry Elder
Mr. Elder,
I am shocked that you
oppose Barack Obama and belong to the Republican Party. We must get
over ourselves and realize there is room at the top for everyone and we
must get there by helping each other -- instead of agreeing with
policies and old politics that are proven not to work. To endorse John
McCain, a person who will not make it easier for the underprivileged,
is just too much. How can a fellow black American feel this way? Your

On "Being Saved"
in Black America
While growing up in a very
religious and church-going family, I often heard the phrase "Being
Saved." Now to me and my peers, "Being Saved" was a rather spooky and
mystical thing, and only the real holy folk could be such —
whatever it was.
