Jesse Jackson's thoughts on Obama's win; Michelle Obama's Visit on The View; Billionaire Bob Johnson's push for Hillary Clinton to be on the Ticket; Hillary Clinton to Concede to Barack Obama on Friday, Endorse on Saturday
Two-time U.S. presidential candidate Jesse Jackson has praised Obama's march to capture the Democratic presidential nomination. The civil rights activist spoke to Reuters via telephone from Tanzania, where he is attending a summit of black American leaders and their African counterparts. "It is a fulfilling moment to be in Africa trying to reconcile two continents so savagely torn apart by the slave trade ... as a son of America and Africa becomes the de facto Democratic Party nominee," said Jackson, 66. "It says a lot about a growing, maturing changing America."

Obama-Clinton ticket: a dream or nightmare?
Picture a cozy weekend at Camp David for President Obama, Vice President Hillary Rodham Clinton and their lively spouses. They'd talk policy and politics in the confines of the rustic retreat. After the long campaign and all the bruised feelings, Michelle Obama could finally reach out to Bill Clinton, as she recently said she's been wanting to do. To be exact, she said: "I want to rip his eyes out." Then added: "Kidding."

On "Being Saved" in Black America
While growing up in a very religious and church-going family, I often heard the phrase "Being Saved." Now to me and my peers, "Being Saved" was a rather spooky and mystical thing, and only the real holy folk could be such — whatever it was.

Pastor of the Week: Pastor Tommy Steele, Pastor of New Life Independent Baptist Church, Concord, North Carolina
On October 9, 1978 God led a man by the name of Danny Willis to witness to a fellow employee that man was Tommy Steele.  Following his salvation, Brother Steele started attending a Bible-believing church and went to work in the bus ministry.  He soon heard God's call to ministry and started New Life Independent Baptist Church.  From its humble beginnings, in a storefront building, God has used this ministry to see countless souls birthed into the Kingdom of God.  Pastor Steele's belief that every one he meets is a soul for whom Christ died has motivated him to center this ministry on reaching others for Christ.  Dr. Tommy Steele is the recipient of many honors including a Doctorate of Theology and Humanities, but in his mind those pale in comparison to the honor or ministering to the needs of others. Dr. Steele has worked selflessly giving himself to the ministry and God has blessed him richly.  Over the years he has had the opportunity to preach to thousands of people across this country and abroad.  He shares his joy of ministry with his family who as well has a heart for ministry. E-mail address: pastor.steele@nlibchurch.org. Website: www.nlibchurch.org.

Inspirations

The Word of God for this Week
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." --Romans 8:28

The Encouraging Word for this Week
"The Church in the West today presents too easy a target for Satan. We do not believe we are at war. We do not know where the battleground is located, and, in spite of our weapons, they are neither loaded nor aimed at the right target. We are unaware of how vulnerable we are. We are better fitted for a parade than for an amphibious landing." --Ed Silvoso

The Prayer Motivator for this Week
MOTIVATING VERSE: "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." --Ephesians 6:18

PRAYER QUOTE: "Prayer is the language of a man burdened with a sense of need." --E.M. Bounds

The Soul-Winning Motivator for this Week
"And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." --Matthew 4:19

SOUL-WINNING QUOTE: "Let's quit fiddling with religion and do something to bring the world to Christ." --
Billy Sunday

Black Christian History
Moses Ladejo Stone: February 22, 1880 -- Moses Ladejo Stone was ordained into the ministry in the First Baptist Church, Lagos (originally known as American Baptist Church) by William W. Colley. Colley, an African American, is thought to be the person to have served as an appointed missionary of both a white-administered missionary-sending agency and a black-administered missionary-sending agency. Colley began his missionary career in 1875. That year, he was appointed by the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board to serve in West Africa as assistant to W. J. David, a white missionary from Mississippi. In November of 1879, Colley returned to the United States convinced that many more blacks should be involved in international missions, especially in Africa. As he traveled back and forth across the country, Colley urged black Baptists to take an independent course in mission work and form their own sending agency. Colley was the primary force in the founding of the Baptist Foreign Mission Convention (BFMC) in 1880.
