Israelis, Palestinians Skeptical about Obama
When Barack Obama comes to Israel this week, he's going to find plenty of skeptics wondering whether such a foreign policy neophyte has what it takes to finally nail down a solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict. The Democratic presidential hopeful has already gotten himself into hot water over one of the thorniest issues in the Israeli-Palestinian divide: the status of disputed Jerusalem.

McCain Insists he was Right, Obama was Wrong on Iraq

As Obama toured the war zones trailed by U.S. network TV anchors, McCain ridiculed him from afar during a visit with the first President George Bush at his summer home on the Atlantic.

On "Being Saved" in Black America
While growing up in a very religious and church-going family, I often heard the phrase "Being Saved." Now to me and my peers, "Being Saved" was a rather spooky and mystical thing, and only the real holy folk could be such — whatever it was.

Pastor of the Week: Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer, Pastor of Faithful Central Bible Church of Inglewood, CA
Dr. Ulmer serves as the Senior Pastor-Teacher of Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood, California. Under Dr. Ulmer’s steady leadership, Faithful Central Bible Church has grown from 350 people to more than 13,000 since he arrived in 1982. Through a series of miraculous events, the Lord made it possible for Faithful Central to purchase the Great Western Forum, which has allowed the church to easily accommodate the incredible growth it has seen. Now, Dr. Ulmer and Faithful Central Bible Church are ready to go forth as Champions who are ready for divine deployment. Dr. Ulmer envisions Faithful Central as a conduit of God’s love and power as it reaches out to Los Angeles and makes an eternal impact across the globe. In looking back over Dr. Ulmer’s life, it’s easy to see that he has always had a passion for realizing and obeying God’s will for his life – to go along with an inexhaustible thirst for the knowledge and wisdom of God. In his eyes, though, his greatest success and satisfaction has come as the husband of his wife, Togetta, and the father of their three children – daughters RoShaun and Keniya, and son Kendan. In addition, he has two sons-in-law and five beautiful granddaughters. Dr. Ulmer and Togetta have been married for over 30 years and currently reside in Los Angeles, California. E-mail address: mjohnson@faithfamily.org. Website: www.faithfulcentral.com.

Music Minister of the Week: Nicole C. Mullen
Much of who we become is shaped by the people God places in our lives. We are all a product of the love and wisdom we glean from family and friends who sow into us. They guide and teach us, leaving an indelible impression not just on our hearts and minds, but on future generations as well. On her new Word Records collection, Sharecropper's Seed Vol. 1, Nicole C. Mullen examines the gift of relationships. Whether saluting her grandfather in the title track or sharing the tender mother's lullaby "Babylove," Nicole celebrates the rich tapestry of life. "My granddad is a man of few words, not a talker like we women in the family are, but a sweet man," says Nicole. "He taught my mother the love for prayer and power of prayer. It's amazing to see how God has honored him and his life, even though he's probably never had more than 30-50 people in his congregation. But he's been faithful. You can see how God has been rewarding his faith and not just through me, but through other family members honoring my granddad's faith. It's a testament to him, and at the same time, I am encouraged, and want to do the same for those who come after me. I want to do the same for those who come after me." Nicole is doing that through her music. "I just aim for the heart and hopefully that was accomplished on this album," she says. "There are everyday people that are heroes to me. These are people who keep me fired up and keep me going. These are the people that I aim toward, and I want to get it right. Hopefully, at the end of the day, they will not have just heard pretty music, but somewhere between the lines, pages, and phrases, they will have heard the whisper of God to the depths of their hearts." Get her new CD "A Dream to Believe" - available everywhere July 22nd! E-mail address: ladylikelisa@yahoo.com. Website: www.nicolecmullen.com.

Inspirations

The Word of God for this Week
“Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually”  —1 Chronicles 16:11

The Encouraging Word for this Week
"I would rather walk with God in the dark than go alone in the light."  —Mary Gardiner Brainard

The Prayer Motivator for this Week
MOTIVATING VERSE: “And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." —Matthew 6:5-8

PRAYER QUOTE: "Prayer is not so much an act as it is an attitude--an attitude of dependency, dependency upon God"
Arthur W. Pink

The Soul-Winning Motivator for this Week
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." --John 14:6

SOUL-WINNING QUOTE: "The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed" -- Hudson Taylor
