Obama
Launching "Joshua Generation Project"
The
Brody File has learned that in the next two weeks Barack Obama's
campaign will unveil a major new program to attract younger
Evangelicals and Catholics to their campaign. It's called the "Joshua
Generation Project." The name is based on the biblical story of how
Joshua's generation led the Israelites into the Promised Land.
A
source close to the Obama campaign tells The Brody File the following:
"The Joshua Generation Project" will be the Obama campaign's outreach
to young people of faith. There's unprecedented energy and excitement
for Obama among young evangelicals and Catholics.

California Marriage Amendment
Raises Complex Legal Questions
As
pro-family groups throughout California prepare and gather support for
a state amendment to protect marriage, legal experts find themselves
confronted with a series of complex legal questions. “If the
amendment passes, what will become of the thousands of gay couples

months
before?” According to pro-family groups, nothing short of
absolute chaos would ensue.

Inspirational Novel, SEASONS,
by Bonnie Hopkins, Encourages Us to “Let Go and Let
God”
Author, Bonnie Hopkins, through her inspiring novel, SEASONS,
reminds us that we do not have to pull over and park at any of the stop
signs in our lives. Yes, stop, but keep the engine of your life running
and prepare to take off again. These stop or rest periods represent the
change of seasons in our lives, or, if you will, the ending and the
beginning of chapters in our lives.

Sharpton Plans March
at MLB All-Star Game: Sean Bell protest designed to disrupt
annual
event next month at Yankee Stadium.
The
Rev. Al Sharpton threatened Sunday to disrupt baseball's historic
All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium next month unless the state
passes new laws to curb police misconduct. A month after protesters
blocked bridges and tunnels during rush hour, Sharpton said he wants to
bring the outrage over the Sean Bell shooting to the national stage
July 15 by targeting the midsummer classic. "We have plans to do the
same at the All-Star Game," Sharpton said. "We will seriously consider
suspending our civil disobedience if we can see some legislative
action."

Sleep:
A Necessity, Not a Luxury (An estimated 40 million Americans don't get
a good night's rest)
The
pace of life gets faster and faster, and people try to cram more and
more into every minute of the day. As things get more hectic, sleep
tends to get short shrift. It's seen as wasted time, lost forever. "For
healthy people, there's a big temptation to voluntarily restrict sleep,
to stay up an hour or two or get up an hour or two earlier," said Dr.
Greg Belenky, director of the Sleep and Performance Research Center at
Washington State University Spokane.

Bestselling
Author and Speaker, Michelle McKinney Hammond, Releases Her Second
Spellbinding Novel,
Playing God
Many
of us as Christians sometimes get tired of waiting on God and we begin
to take matters into our own hands. We seem to have forgotten this
verse of the old spiritual: He’s an on-time God, Yes, He is /
He may
not come when we want Him to / But He’ll be there right on
time. / He’s
an on-time God, Yes He is. Best selling author and speaker, Michelle
McKinney Hammond, shows us the detrimental effects of playing God in
her latest novel, Playing God.

Watch: Israel Backs Away From Threat
to Attack Iran
Voice
of America News reports: “Israeli defense officials have
rejected
comments by Cabinet Minister Shaul Mofaz, who said last week that an
Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities is
‘unavoidable.’ The statement was a factor in a
spike in oil
prices by nearly nine percent. Defense sources said such irresponsible
statements make it harder for Israel to convince the West to tighten
sanctions on Iran.

On "Being Saved"
in Black America
While growing up in a very
religious and church-going family, I often heard the phrase "Being
Saved." Now to me and my peers, "Being Saved" was a rather spooky and
mystical thing, and only the real holy folk could be such —
whatever it was.

Inspirations
The
Word of God
for this Week
"Therefore,
my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in
the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in
vain in the Lord."
--1 Corinthians 15:58
The
Encouraging Word for this Week
"If
you have a
doubtful issue in your life, something with a question mark after it,
put it to this fourfold test – The Test of Expediency (I
Corinthians 6:12): It may even be good, but is it good for me to do?
The Test of Enslavement (I Corinthians 6:12 again): Does it make me its
slave? The Test of Edification (I Corinthians 10:23): Does it build me
up? The Test of Example (I Corinthians 8)” Does it offend the
weaker brother? If your problem clears these four hurdles, it should no
longer be a problem." --Vance Havner
The
Prayer Motivator for this Week
MOTIVATING
VERSE: "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know
not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh
intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." --Romans
8:26
PRAYER QUOTE: "Any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too
small to be made into a burden"
--Corrie ten Boom
The
Soul-Winning Motivator for this Week
"But
ye shall
receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall
be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in
Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." --Acts
1:8
SOUL-WINNING
QUOTE: “To try to win a soul for Christ by keeping that soul
in
ignorance of any truth, is contrary to the mind of the Spirit; and to
endeavour to save men by mere claptrap, or excitement, or oratorical
display, is as foolish as to hope to hold an angel with bird-lime, or
lure a star with music. The best attraction is the gospel in its
purity. The weapon with which the Lord conquers men is the truth as it
is in Jesus. The gospel will be found equal to every emergency; an
arrow which can pierce the hardest heart, a balm which will heal the
deadliest wound. Preach it, and preach nothing else.”
--C.H.
Spurgeon

Christian History
Montrose Waite: February
16, 1922 -- About this date, Jamaican-born Montrose Waite received a

they wanted to send him as a missionary to Africa. Waite had won the
battle against prejudice and rejection and even friends who urged him
to the stay in the U.S., his adopted country. Waite would serve as a
missionary in Sierra Leone and Liberia and would be instrumental in the
founding of the Afro-American Missionary Crusade (1947) and the Carver
Foreign Missions organization.
