Hackers have broken in to the Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's email account and posted several personal and work related emails online.
Among the revealed messages are a draft of an email to the California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, proving that Palin uses the Yahoo account for business, as well as several personal messages.
Palin has recently come under attack for using her personal email account for conducting official business, as US law dictates that all messages be preserved for any future investigations. Using a personal email account makes this more difficult to track, as messages can be deleted without a trace.
A hacker group going by the name Anonymous claims to have perpetrated the attack, and has posted several screen shots of the email account in use, as well as a list of stored contacts on Wikileaks.
"This is a shocking invasion of the governor's privacy and a violation of law," says a statement from the McCain campaign, which urged anyone in possession of the documents to delete them immediately.
The email account has since been deactivated, although a list of contacts has also been posted to Wikileaks, giving the email address of family members and colleagues.
