barbarasmithpic.jpgThe trauma that comes from sexual abuse can last a long time and leave a scar that can take the life out of its victims. Licensed minister and author, Barbara Smith, in her book, From Ashes to Glory, discusses the aftermath of rape, and the healing that can follow.

Using the knowledge gained from her years of experience as a registered nurse, Minister Smith combines that knowledge with her understanding of the Scriptures, to provide us with an in-depth knowledge of the life of Tamar, King David's daughter, who was a victim of rape.

In much detail, and with a friendly, conversational tone, but one with authority, Minister Smith explores the biblical and medical perspectives of rape and the recovery process - for any victim of rape, can, through Jesus Christ, gain hope in the abundant life that is theirs in Christ.

Minister Smith, in a unique way, presents this topic from various views, and thus is able to reach the secular world as well as the spiritual world for a better understanding of sexual abuse. She emphasizes throughout that life does not have to end if you're a victim of abuse, but it can be the marvelous beginning of another chapter of your life that can draw you closer to Christ.

fromashestoglorycover.JPG "In From Ashes to Glory, I am mesmerized by how Barbara takes a topic as serious as rape, and explains how women are left feeling after such a devastating experience.  She dissects and discusses the topic from several aspects, reaching the secular world through her hands-on experience with rape victims as a nurse for many years, and shaking the spiritual world both with her unique explanation of the very interesting story of Tamar, and by 'putting us in remembrance' of the duties God gave us to perform. This book challenges the mature saints to be about our Father's business, while it also serves in teaching the novice to be a doer and not a hearer only.  With this book Barbara has again succeeded in commanding your undivided attention.  Read and be both informed and blessed."
