Where does America stand in end time prophecy? Is it possible that America might not play a major role, if any, in world events as we draw closer to the Battle of Armageddon? Prophecy expert, Mark Hitchcock, explains the answers to these two questions and more in his book, The Late Great United States.
Many think the United States, a world leader in every area--politically, militarily, economically, culturally, linguistically, and even religiously--surely must have a place in the end times. But, according to Hitchcock, this may not be the case.
After doing in-depth study of the Bible and other sources, Hitchcock, throughout the pages of The Late Great United States, answers the following questions and more:
- Does the Bible say anything about America in the last days?
- How does the U.S. fit into God's prophetic plan?
- Will America survive?
- Might the anti-Christ come from America?
- Could America's addiction to oil be her undoing?
- Will America be destroyed by a nuclear attack?
- Could America fall from within as a result of moral corruption?
- Is America still a "blessed" nation?
- How should individual Christians respond to a world in chaos?
No matter what America's role is in end time events, we as individuals, and particularly as Christians, have a job to do, and that is to put our faith and trust in God despite how bleak and dismal the future may look. God knows the beginning and the ending of all things, as He says in His Word: "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty."

Mark Hitchcock, Ph.D., an authority on Bible prophecy, has written fifteen books on the topic, including, Iran: The Coming Crisis. A law school graduate, Mark was called to the ministry in the 1980s. After graduating from seminary, he became pastor of Faith Bible Church in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he still serves. Mark lectures frequently on prophecy themes and has appeared on MSNBC, Fox News, and CNN. Mark and his wife, Cheryl, have two sons: Justin and Samuel.

Re: "The young lions of Tarshish, p. 30 in "The Late Great United States."
Quote: "Tarshish in Ezekiel's day was in Spain."
Today (as per Wikipedia) "the U.S. is home to more than 45 million Hispanics, making it the world's 2nd largest Spanish speaking community only after Mexico and ahead of Colombia, Spain, and Argentina."
In addition, when you consider the number of Spanish decendants in all of South America, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands, the "new world" including the U.S. could be considered a young lion of Tarshish.
I believe the U.S. will fit into God's prophetic plan, but not as everyone supposed; not through England's descendants, but through Spain's. God does work in mysterious ways
