China captain Zheng Zhi made his debut for Celtic in a 2-1 defeat to Rangers on Sunday, playing a part in his team's first-half goal in the Scottish Premier League match.
The 29-year-old striker, who spent two and a { years in English football at Charlton, was floored while dribbling into the Rangers area in the 25th minute and Aiden McGeady scored from the resulting penalty.
That brought Celtic back to 2-1 after two early strikes by Kenny Miller.
Zheng, who was substituted after 70 minutes, has signed a two-year deal with Celtic. He had been waiting for a work permit and international clearance to make his debut.
