WATCH: U.S. Coptic Christians Protests Egypt Rights Abuses

A group of Egyptian American Christians recently marched outside the White House to protest human rights abuses in the Muslim country.

The Thursday rally was part of an effort to prompt President Barack Obama to speak out on behalf of persecuted Christians in Muslim Egypt.

"We ask President Obama, the U.S. Congress and government officials, and all freedom-loving people and organizations in the U.S. and around the world to support the right of the Copts, for protection from aggression and equality under the law," the Christian Copts of California said.

In the most recent attack, six Christians died when Muslim men sprayed a crowd with gunfire as they were leaving church on Christmas Eve.

Egyptian Christians say their own government has turned a blind eye to attacks against their community.

"The climate of hatred is deeply entrenched in Egypt's mosques, the Egyptian media and the Egyptian educational system," the Coptic group said.
