Hollywood marriages are
not known for their longevity. So, in a business that eats marriages
for breakfast, the McCoo/Davis union is a remarkable accomplishment.
Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis, Jr., have celebrated not only more than 40 as husband and wife, but also a similar length of time in the entertainment business.
The couple, who first met as members of The 5th Dimension in 1965, says there's no magic bullet to having a successful marriage, in or out of the entertainment business.
In an interview at the 18th Annual Faith & Values Awards Gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, Beverly Hills, California, on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, Dan Wooding asked Billy Davis Jr. why the event means so much to him?
"Well actually this is one of the special events because what they do is they celebrate family movies that are putting faith out there for families to go and see together. I think that's special because in today's society our families are so split up because the parents don't want to see what the youngsters are looking at the youngsters don't want to look at what the parents are looking at.... But the films that they honor at a situation like this everybody gets to go to the movies and it's a good thing for the family," said Davis.
Wooding asked Marilyn McCoo what she thought of the situation for African American families in America? Does she despair or does she think Hollywood can do anything to turn this around?
"I'm concerned about all families in America to tell you the truth," said McCoo.
