LaDainian Tomlinson arrived in New Jersey on Friday to meet with Jets officials as his free-agent tour continues.
Tomlinson met with the Jets one day after visiting Vikings officials in Minnesota. He said on Thursday he wanted to hear what both teams had to say before possibly deciding on a new team this weekend. He said he may make other visits next week, with the Saints being a possible suitor.
Vikings VP of player personnel Rick Spielman said Thursday there was "no pressure" to sign Tomlinson quickly. And head coach Brad Childress reiterated those comments to KFAN radio on Friday, while noting that Tomlinson said he'd given his word to make several visits before deciding on a team.
"A lot of times when you only have one (team) involved, the agents don't like that game," Childress said. "A lot of times they take them and create the atmosphere that there's want somewhere else. And there may be in fact want somewhere else. Something to drive the deal."
Childress said it was a "great visit" with Tomlinson, and said the former Chargers tailback spoke with Vikings starter Adrian Peterson while he was at the facility.
Tomlinson understood that Peterson would be the featured back, Childress said.
"I really look at it as a guy that if we were fortunate enough to get him, we would have a 1 and 1A," Childress said. "He understands that dynamic. But he can do all the things that he needs to do in this offense. "
