A recent report from Richard Prince's "Journal-isms"
column should raise a few eyebrows. That's because black shows on the
mainstream Turner networks are drawing more black viewers than BET and
TV One.
Of course the reason for this development is Tyler Perry. According to TV/cable rating service Nielson Co., Perry's shows, "Meet the Browns" and "House of Payne," were number one in African American households for the week of March 15-21
BTW, for the week of March 15-21, the 20 most highly rated shows on cable among African Americans were:
1. "Why Did I Get Married," TNT, Sunday, 8 p.m.;
2. "House of Payne," TBS, Wednesday, 10 p.m.;
3. "House of Payne," TBS, Wednesday, 10:30 p.m.;
4. "Why Did I Get Married," TNT, Sunday, 10:30 p.m.;
5. "Rip the Runway," BET;
6. "Why Did I Get Married," TNT, Saturday, 8 p.m.;
7. "Bad Girls Club," Oxygen Media;
8. "Meet the Browns," TBS, Wednesday, 9:30 p.m.;
9. "Meet the Browns," TBS, Wednesday, 9 p.m.;
10. "Why Did I Get Married," TNT, Friday, 8 p.m.
11. "Meet the Browns," TBS, Wednesday, 8:30 p.m.;
