"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him." -2 Chronicles 16:9
We have all heard by now about the disturbing allegations brought against Bishop Eddie Long by four young men. Like so many other people, I find these allegations hard to believe due to the way in which Bishop Long has carried himself down through the years, and due to his genuinely compassionate and loving heart for people. The truth of the matter is, only God, Eddie Long, and his four accusers know what really happened, and God will reveal the truth in the way He sees fit to do so. The main lesson that we can learn from this unfortunate situation is that, even if Eddie Long is wrong, God is still strong.
In metro Atlanta, GA this morning, Bishop Eddie Long addressed his church family of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church regarding his recent allegations of sexual misconduct and coercion. This is the first time he had publicly said anything from his own mouth regarding the now four young men who say that Bishop Long used his position of authority to coerce them into having sexual acts including sexual sodomy.
Standing before thousands of supportive congregants Sunday, embattled Bishop Eddie Long vowed to "vigorously" defend himself against the accusation of four young men who claim he coerced them into sex.

The power of any pastor over his or her parishioners is derived from their "calling" to minister the Gospel from God, or as some call it, the anointing by the Holy Spirit. But the role of a pastor - the Bible speaks to being a shepherd of a flock - also comes from the belief that it is their moral standing as the earthly representative of God to lead their congregations spiritually.
Late this summer, as the country's economic slump entered its third year, Bishop Robert E. Girtman met with the board of his church to discuss finances.

In a statement read on a syndicated radio show Thursday, Atlanta-based megachurch pastor Eddie Long denied he had coerced young male church members into sex, as alleged in three lawsuits filed against him.
