Palestinian Ambassador to Tehran Salah Zawawi on Tuesday condemned
the Zionist regime for its brutal approach and crimes against the
Palestinian people, and stressed that occupied territories can be
liberated merely through resistance.
"In this phase, we are facing an extremist enemy that has made Quds (Jerusalem) the everlasting capital city of its fake regime and fully rejects the return of the Palestinians to their towns and villages," Zawawi told FNA on Tuesday.
He also pointed to the growing Jewish settlements on the Palestinian territories and Israel's refusal to dismantle them, and said, "Thus, we are facing a malignant enemy that started its project by occupying lands, massacring people and expelling them from their homeland and making continuous efforts to expand its occupying regime."
Commenting on the possible ways to confront such a brutal regime, the Palestinian diplomat stated, "No language but the language of resistance is the way of confronting it (Israel) and liberating our lands and sanctities from its hands."
He reminded the 22-day long resistance shown by the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip against the Israeli onslaught, and described the development as "the symbol of that Palestinian people's honor in defending our land".
Zawawi further referred to the Judaization of the holy Quds by Israel, and expressed dismay at the Muslim world's inaction in the face of such an issue.
He also expressed the hope that the Arab and Islamic World would make an urgent move to support the Palestinians' efforts in liberating the holy land, Quds in Particular.
The comments by the Palestinian diplomat came two days before the International Quds Day rallies due to be marked on Friday.
The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims.
The International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in not just Muslim and Arab countries, but all around the world, specially in Iran.
