The proposed N.C. constitutional amendment, to be considered by the state's voters on Tuesday, says that traditional marriage - between a man and a woman - will be the only domestic union legally recognized in North Carolina.

"I believe that Amendment One has unintended consequences that will do more harm than good," he told the Observer in an email. "I cannot support legislation that I believe opens the door to discrimination and insensitivity to families, regardless of their domestic arrangement."
