According to an infographic titled "African-American Personal Finance: Down, Not Out," African Americans are "disadvantaged in just about every area of personal finance," a grim conclusion to a list of findings that the website says has a silver lining still.
Drawing from two major 2011 reports -- Nielsen's "The State of the African-American Consumer" and Prudential's "The African American Financial Experience" -- Online Loan 24 highlights stats showing that African Americans have fewer savings compared to white Americans and are more likely to dip into retirement savings for daily expenses. In addition, higher-earning African-American households have lower incomes than average white American households, a reality that experts say is directly linked to African Americans' tendency to express concerns about keeping the roof above their heads, keeping the debt collector away, and keeping their credit history clean.
