Foxx's comment was used as a preview of the Soul Train Music Awards show which aired on the BET network, according to Newsbusters. Foxx had this to say about President Obama:
"It's like church over here. It's like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama."
Statements made glorifying President Obama from supporters and sarcastic references calling the president "the messiah" are not uncommon. Jamie Foxx is not the first celebrity or political commentator to lovingly embrace Barack Obama.
Examiner reports that during the 2012 Democratic National Convention a poster was sold that called President Obama "Prophesy fulfilled." A calendar sold during the political convention allegedly appeared to compare the president to Jesus Christ.
