Fox confirmed that the former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee would no longer be a regular on-air commentator, but declined to discuss the circumstances of her departure. The website Real Clear Politics said on Friday that Palin decided not to accept Fox's contract-renewal offer.

"We have thoroughly enjoyed our association with Gov. Palin," said Bill Shine, Fox News' executive vice president of programming, in a statement. "We wish her the best in her future endeavors."

Palin has been an on-air contributer to Fox, the leading cable news channel, for the past three years. In interviews with Fox's conservative hosts, she typically offered pugnacious and headline-grabbing comments about President Obama.
