With the loss, Houston has now dropped eight of its last nine and sits at 22-22. It continues to barely hold onto the last playoff spot in the West over Portland, which is also reeling.
The Nuggets, however, now have two impressive wins in a row after beating Oklahoma City on Sunday and stand at 26-18 overall.

Player of the Game: Ty Lawson
A case could be made for several Nuggets, who shot 46.5 percent on the night and got a balanced, all-around effort in the win.
Andre Iguodala did Andre Iguodala things as he racked up 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals while Wilson Chandler chipped in 20 points, six boards and three steals off the bench.
Danilo Gallinari and JaVale McGee also finished in double digits in scoring.
But Ty Lawson was the engine that made Denver go on Wednesday night. Not only did he score 21 points on 8-of-15 shooting, but he dished out seven assists to go along with four rebounds and two steals.
