We hear a lot about how people are concerned about Nelson Mandela's health, but are Christians concerned about his soul? The frail, 94-year-old, former president of South Africa has once again been hospitalized with a lung infection, leading many people to think that the respected leader is close to the day of his passing. Christians, however, should be concerned about what will happen to Nelson Mandela's soul once he leaves this earth, whether that moment is sometime soon or several years down the road.
May we encourage a minister of stature in South Africa to visit Mandela and make sure that he has trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior before he passes from this life to the next, for the Bible says, "It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27).
When Nelson Mandela leaves this earth, he will stand before God, as will everyone else. We want him to be ready. And, we want to encourage all Christians to pray that Nelson Mandela will see the light and be saved before it is eternally too late if he has not done so already.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
