That he mentioned the possibility of Tebow being a part of training camp is interesting, but the team is probably trying to protect any unlikely chance they have of trading him.

John Idzik's mantra since taking over as Jets GM has been putting competition at every position. Most notably, that competition will come at the quarterback spot, presumably between Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy and whomever else the Jets bring into camp.

But on Monday, Idzik hinted that Tim Tebow could stick around as well, even though the prevailing belief is that Tebow will be off the roster sooner rather than later.

The Daily News first reported in December that the Jets and Tebow were both ready to move on, which is still the most likely option.

"Tim, as you know, he's currently on our roster. What we're doing is we're trying to increase competition at that position and positions across the board," Idzik said during a conference call with season-ticket holders. "So we're going to let the competition play out. We're going to see who we're able to bring on board and let it play out this offseason and into training camp. So I think that'll be healthy for all concerned, including Tim."

"Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."
