Books of Washington, DC is pleased to announce that one of its authors,
Mary Haskett, has just been announced as the winner of a Bronze IPPY
Award for Canada-East – Best Regional Non-Fiction, for her
compelling life story, Reverend
Mother’s Daughter.
The motto of Independent Publisher Book of the Year Awards (the
IPPY’s) is “Recognizing Excellence in Independent
Publishing." This year's IPPY contest attracted 3,175 total entries,
with over 2,500 entries in the national categories and over 600 entries
in the regional competitions. Books came from 49 U.S. states 9 Canadian
provinces, and 16 countries around the world.
Author Mary Haskett’s extraordinary life journey - from the
time
of her rejection by her birth family in England, to her adoption by the
Mother Superior of a nunnery, through many joys and sorrows, to the
life that she lives today - has been movingly captured in this
outstanding memoir. Although hers is a story of scandal,
rejection and abuse, Mary's triumph over seemingly insurmountable odds
has had readers cheering her on all the way to the finish line. Haskett
has found herself being interviewed by radio stations all across
America, Canada and even in Europe about her book.
"I'm
am so
thrilled to win this award," said Haskett, “ Even though my
story
was at times very difficult to write, readers from all over have been
writing to tell me that it has touched their lives.”
On her website, http://www.reverendmothersdaughter.com,
many of these readers comments have been captured.
Mary Haskett is available for media interviews and can be contacted
directly at 1-519-474-1419.
